IEEE WMC 2024 Talk (Online)
Abstract
This presentation explores the advancements and applications of millimeter-wave radar technology in automotive and consumer domains. It covers the evolution of radar from traditional driver assistance systems (L0–L2) to high-resolution imaging radar for advanced automation (L3–L5). Key topics include the shift from analog to digital radar, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), and distributed radar networks for enhanced sensing accuracy. The talk also addresses radar interference challenges and mitigation techniques, the push toward higher frequencies (beyond 100 GHz), and regulatory aspects. Finally, emerging applications such as gesture sensing, health monitoring, and joint communication and sensing (JCAS) in future 6G networks are discussed, highlighting radar’s expanding role beyond automotive.
